What is the PTA?
All Parents and Teachers at Old Hall are automatically members of the Parents Teachers Association. Parent Teacher Associations are groups open, as their name suggests, to parents and teachers, as well as others in the school community. Their aim is to foster better relationships between parents and their children's schools, to create a partnership which helps the school to listen and to deal with parents' concerns, for parents to learn more about what they can do to help the school and improve their children's education. While it important to remember that PTAs do not necessarily represent the views of all parents, they can provide an excellent forum for communication and a base for partnership between parents and schools.
We have a committee of volunteers who are are nominated and voted in at the Annual General Meeting in September.
N.B. The PTA is not responsible for educational, sectarian or county financial matters, Issues of this nature should be addressed to the Governors at the school.
Why do we need to raise funds?
The PTA funds raised are spent in consultation with the school and examples of key items which have been bought are:
- Library books and items
- Laser printer and printer for School Office
- Digital Camera
- CD player and headphones
- Photocopier and photocopying costs
- Contribution to computers
- School anniversary gifts for children
- Year 6 leavers presents
- Extra exercise books
- Playground Seating
- Outdoor Planters
- Wall Games for the Playground
- Outdoor games for each class
- Total refurbishment of KS2 Library furniture & books
All of the above items are valuable to the school but can easily be taken for granted. It is vital that funds are constantly raised to help pay for these extras. Everyone's efforts to maintain these funds is gratefully received.
Secondly, the children really enjoy the events we run. The school year would not be the same without the Summer and Christmas Fairs, and life would simply not be worth living without the Discos.
Thirdly, it is good fun, the PTA are planning one or two purely social events for ourselves this year.
